Members Pack Food at Second Harvest

In addition to supporting Nashville SC and soccer in general around the city, Music City Supporters also has a service aspect to the group. Last evening Tuesday April 16, 2019 MCS had 14 members (7 adults and 7 teenagers) pack food at Second Harvest Food Bank. After a 10 minute “tailgate” of Jersey Mike’s and pizza in the parking lot to power up, the group spent about 2 hours packing individual meals given to both children and the elderly. At the end of shift nearly 1,100 meals had been boxed. Members learned that one in eight Middle Tennessee adults are food insecure as are one in five children. Hard to believe in the “it” city, but it’s easy to overlook poverty in Nashville whether intentionally or not. Members discussed a variety of subjects including some generational differences on which music to play while the group worked. It’s not easy to do this on a school night, but so worth it. Not even the teenagers regretted missing out on the Xbox for one night. Especially with a trip to Sweet Cece’s after to reward a good deed. If any member is interested in doing this again during the summer when family schedules are generally a bit more open please email us and we’ll setup another date.
